Act on Corporate Due Diligence in Supply Chains
On 22 July 2021, the act was published in the Federal Law Gazette. his represents the first time that the responsibility of German companies to respect human rights in global supply chains has been given a legal foundation.
On 3 March 2021, Germany’s Federal Cabinet approved draft legislation on corporate due diligence in supply chains. This represents the first time that the responsibility of German companies to respect human rights in global supply chains has been given a legal foundation. On 11 June 2021, the German Bundestag adopted the legislation, which was followed by the authorisation of the German Bundesrat on 25 June 2021.
